Bangladesh Patient Undergoes ACL Reconstruction with Meniscus Repair in India

Bangladesh Patient’s Journey Through ACL Reconstruction and Meniscus Repair Surgery in India

Rukhsana Morshed from Bangladesh after ACL Reconstruction and Meniscus Repair Surgery in India

Patient Name : Rukhsana Morshed
Age : 58 years
Gender : Female
Country of Origin : Bangladesh
Condition/Diagnosis : ACL Tear with Meniscus Injury
Treatment/Surgery : ACL Reconstruction with Meniscus Repair Surgery

Patient Rating:
★★★★★4.9/5

For Rukhsana Morshed from Bangladesh, what started as a knee problem gradually became something she could no longer manage through everyday adjustments. Walking for longer periods, using stairs, and carrying out routine activities had become more difficult, and she began to realise that proper treatment was necessary.

Rukhsana and her family started looking at treatment options outside Bangladesh. India became part of their search as they explored specialist orthopaedic care and surgical options for her knee. Her medical reports and imaging were reviewed before travelling, helping the treatment team understand the extent of the injury and discuss the proposed procedure.

The words ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair initially sounded quite technical to Rukhsana. She wanted to know what exactly would happen during surgery, whether both problems could be addressed during the same procedure, and what rehabilitation would involve afterwards. These conversations gave her a better understanding of the treatment and helped her prepare for the recovery period.

Travelling from Bangladesh to India was not a small decision, particularly at her age. There were arrangements to make, medical appointments to organise, and the emotional challenge of being away from home while preparing for surgery. Having a family member accompany her made the journey feel more manageable.

At India Cancer Surgery Site’s associated treatment facility in India, Rukhsana completed the necessary consultations and pre-operative assessments. By then, she had become more familiar with the medical team and had a clearer idea of what the procedure would involve.

The day of surgery brought a mixture of nervousness and relief. She had spent considerable time thinking about the operation, but once the preparations were complete, she knew there was little left to do except trust the treatment plan and focus on what came next.

Recovery required a different kind of effort. Rukhsana had to be patient while her knee healed and gradually work through the rehabilitation process. Small improvementsβ€”standing more comfortably, walking with better confidence, and managing everyday movementsβ€”became meaningful milestones.

Her family remained closely involved throughout the process. Their encouragement helped her stay positive on the more tiring days and reminded her that recovery was a gradual process rather than something that could be rushed.

For Rukhsana, travelling to India was ultimately about finding a way forward from a knee problem that had begun to interfere with her independence. The experience involved preparation, surgery, rehabilitation, and patience, but each stage brought her closer to returning to the activities she had been missing.

Looking back on her experience, Rukhsana said:

β€œI was more worried about the recovery than the operation itself. I kept wondering how I would walk again, how much time rehabilitation would take, and whether I would be able to manage the exercises. Coming to India gave me the chance to understand the treatment properly before going ahead. After surgery, I learned to appreciate small improvements instead of expecting everything to change immediately. Each time I could move a little more comfortably, it gave me encouragement to continue.”

Thank You
Rukhsana Morshed from Bangladesh
